Ricardo graduated from TEC de Monterrey (Mexico) with a Bachelor's degree in Communications Science and furthered his studies in filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. Notably, Ricardo won the prestigious 1998 National Advertising Award for an animated commercial that captivated audiences nationwide and remains a beloved memory in Mexico.

During the dotcom bubble, Ricardo joined Activamente, a business incubator, where he helped tech entrepreneurs in Mexico develop marketing assets. This role sparked his passion for innovation, technology and the startup ecosystem.

In 1999, Ricardo founded a film and animation school in Mexico and launched önderfilm, a Spanish-language digital media magazine with both print and electronic editions. These initiatives allowed him to forge strong industry connections and gain a global perspective. In 2004, Ricardo went back to school to study 3D animation at Vanarts in Vancouver, Canada, and began building valuable links between Mexican and Canadian creative industries. He has spoken at national and international festivals and served as a juror for major film and animation festivals in Mexico.

Since 2013, Ricardo has worked in Animation and VFX for feature films and television at some of Vancouver's most prestigious studios, including Industrial Light & Magic and Sony Pictures Imageworks. His portfolio includes contributions to acclaimed projects such as The Mandalorian, The Electric State, Ultraman Rising, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, The Addams Family, Hotel Transylvania, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.
